Major, Schumacher and Kristensen highlight women's field

International Women's Field - 2007 Ford Ironman 70.3 FloridaThe pro women's field at the 2007 Ford Ironman 70.3 Florida on Sunday will be led by a group of international athletes. Australia's Kate Major, just off a win at the 2007 Ford Ironman 70.3 California, will face Katja Schumacher of Germany and Lisbeth Kristensen representing Denmark at the fourth annual event held at Walt Disney WorldŽ Resort in Orlando, Florida.

A two-time Ironman champion, Major placed third at the 2005 Ford Ironman 70.3 Florida. Her 2006 season results included a third place finish at Ford Ironman Coeur d'Alene and a sixth place finish at the Ford Ironman World Championships in Hawaii.

Schumacher has four Ironman victories to her credit, including a 2006 late season win in very tough conditions at Ford Ironman Wisconsin. At the recent Ford Ironman Arizona race, Schumacher placed third in a time of 9:44:14

Kristensen had a breakthrough 2006 season, posting two Ironman wins during the year. The first was at Ironman Brazil early in the season and was followed by another win at Ironman Western Australia in December. Kristensen placed seventh at Ford Ironman 70.3 California earlier this year.
