Well, it happened! It took just under two months for the inaugural Ironman Muskoka 70.3 to completely sell out to 1,700 athletes. The race was officially announced on August 9, 2007 and by the first week of October it was sold out. That's almost a full year in advance of the September 14, 2008 race date.
The buzz surrounding this event is electric as the race office in Vineland, Ontario is still fielding phone calls and e-mails on how to get into this first time event.
The Muskoka 70.3 will be fully hosted at Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville, Ontario, Canada; the site of the 1992 Age Group World Championships. The annual Subaru Muskoka Chase is also located in Huntsville in July and will once again attract athletes from all over North America making the Muskoka region one of the best triathlon communities in North America.
