From year to year, so much stays the same at the Vineman Ironman 70.3 held in Northern California every summer. This point-to-point venue begins at Johnson's Beach in Guerneville and winds through some spectacular wine regions of Sonoma County. Athletes will never tire of the beautiful vineyards and wineries as they make their way to the bike-to-run transition at Windsor High School, just north of Santa Rosa. The bike course is mostly flat to rolling, with one climb up Chalk Hill at mile 45. The out-and-back run course is challenging, with several rolling hills to keep you honest. Read the story »

The Vineman Ironman 70.3 Triathlon will be held on July 22, 2007 in Sonoma County, California (about one hour north of San Francisco). The point-to-point race begins at Johnsons Beach in Guerneville and takes entrants past hundreds of vineyards and dozens of wineries before it finishes up in at Windsor High School (just north of Santa Rosa). Along the way athletes will enjoy a tour of Sonoma County's beautiful wine country, passing through four different grape growing regions: the Russian River Region, the Dry Creek Valley, the Alexander Valley, and Chalk Hill. This event has truly become one of the most popular long course triathlons in the country. Perhaps it is the 12 run-course aid stations that serve literally a ton of food, or the 800 enthusiastic volunteers, or the awesome Sonoma County scenery which have made this race so popular. Traversing through wineries and vineyards, the Vineman Ironman 70.3 takes competitors along some of northern California's most gorgeous coastline.
