Wear-Dated has been an official sponsor of the Ford Ironman World Championship for several years and the Ryka Iron Girl National Event Series since 2005. In 2006 it added sponsorship of the Ironman 70.3 Series. Wear-Dated provides custom carpet for the last 50 yards of each event, featuring the Ironman, Mohawk and Wear-Dated logos.

The Ford Ironman World Championship provides the ultimate durability challenge for men and women of all ages. The event consists of a 2.4-mile ocean swim, a 112-mile bike race and 26.2 mile run. The new Ironman 70.3 Series cuts those distances in half, drawing many former and aspiring Ironman triathletes. "Durability and endurance are the key performance factors for these athletes," said Keith Barbaree, director of Wear-Dated. "Performance brands such Wear-Dated, Ford, Gatorade and Timex belong because of the unique character and spirit of the event."

The Ironman Wear-Dated CarpetThe Ryka Iron Girl National Event Series is designed with a completely different mission and focus than the traditional Ironman events. This series ranges from triathlons and 10 mile runs to 5K run/walk events. While many accomplished athletes participate, the focus is primarily on promoting a healthy lifestyle for women of all ages and fitness levels. The Iron Girl circuit held five events last year, and has expanded to several new venues in 2006. "The Ryka Iron Girl National Event Series provides an energetic and fun atmosphere for women," said Christine Whittemore, director of in-store innovation for Wear-Dated. "We look forward to participating in an event so closely aligned with those who make carpet buying decisions." This year's sponsors include brands that focus on dependability and performance, such as Ryka, Foot Locker and Wear-Dated.

Wear-Dated is working on plans to incorporate the event sponsorships into retail store promotions, especially in cities hosting the events.
