Race Description:

Swimming in front of the Zurich skyline, biking along the Goldcoast of Lake Zurich and running through the heart of the beautiful city provides a wonderful backdrop for another exciting event. The event generally coincides with Switzerland's Independence Day, making for a festive weekend for those in attendance.

The challenge of the Zurich course in the past has been the bike leg, which took competitors over two infamous hills, Heartbreak Hill and Schoenenberger Beast. The bike course was redesigned in 2000, which has made it faster. Once through the bike, the run is fast and flat, giving front-of-the-pack competitors an opportunity to vie for world record times at Ironman Switzerland.
